City dwellers take note: while you are living a busy life, your skin is busy fighting a whole array of nasties that city life throws at it.
High levels of dirt and pollution mean that your skin is highly prone to irritation and sensitivity. Add to this the dehydration that comes from constantly walking in and out of air-conditioned or heated environments (think shops, tubes, trains, offices? the list goes on!) and the stress and lack of sleep that city dwellers often experience, and it culminates into a recipe for disaster for your skin.
Here are our top tips to help combat the effects of city living on your skin.
1. Cleanse thoroughly twice a day. This is an absolute must to remove the dirt and toxins that have built up on your skin throughout the day. In the evening, it is beneficial to double cleanse; once to remove the dirt, grime and make-up and twice for a deep cleanse.
3. Exfoliate once a week. This will stop the build-up of dead skin cells that results in dry and patchy skin.
4. Breathe. Yes, we do this without thinking every day, but taking a moment to stop, take a few deep breaths and have a moment of calm can do wonders for your stress levels.
5. Get an early night. There are 7 days in the week ? make sure a couple of those are spent tucked up in bed by 10pm!
