Save our sensitive skin
As the word suggests, sensitive skin is easily upset and is extra prone to outside factors upsetting its delicate balance. Because of this, sensitive skin needs to be handled with the utmost care and respect (as indeed should all skin types). By following some basic rules, you can keep your sensitive skin under control.
1. Avoid harsh ingredients in your skincare products. Common skincare ingredients can actually be very irritating to the skin; for example, SLS (sodium lauryl sulphate) is a foaming ingredient that is often used in cleansers, shampoos, shower gels, toothpaste and so on, but it can irritate the skin and cause dryness, which is the last thing that sensitive skin needs.
To avoid doubt, opt for skincare brands that use natural ingredients and avoid harsh chemicals in their products. All Claudia Louch Natural Skin Clinic products are 94% natural and are free from harsh chemicals such as parabens, methylisothiazolinone (MIT or MI) and SLS.
2. Go back to basics with your skincare. When your skin flares up, it is tempting to throw a load of different products at it but in actual fact you could be making the problem a whole lot worse. Sensitive skin is easily reactive so it?s best to stick to a basic skincare regime using products with mild ingredients, to allow the skin to settle down naturally.
3. Keep it clean. Dirt, bacteria and pollution can all play havoc with sensitive skin so daily cleansing will help to prevent any build up occurring on the skin. Opt for a gentle cleanser such as the Claudia Louch Natural Skin Clinic Botanical Cleansing Lotion, which contains soothing ingredients of chamomile, aloe, cucumber and Japanese green tea to calm the skin while it cleanses.
4. Respect your skin. Don?t pull or rub at your skin; a gentle touch is needed with sensitive skin and avoid handling your skin at all when it isn?t necessary, to prevent bacteria from your hands transferring to your face.
