Allergies and Atopic Dermatitis Treatment
If you suffer from an allergy or are concerned that you may be allergic or intolerant to something, then you are not alone. 18 million people in the UK have an allergy, with 12 million people receiving allergy treatment in any given year.
Allergy is a ‘hypersensitivity’ reaction, or exaggerated sensitivity to substances that are normally tolerated (known as allergens). Examples of common allergens include food, house dust mites, grass pollen, animals and medicines. These allergens trigger production of a number of harmful antibodies known as immunoglobulin A, E and G (IgA, IgG, IgE).
In an allergic reaction, the interaction between the Immunoglobulin and the allergen causes the release of inflammatory chemicals in the body such as histamine and leukotrienes. In turn, these cause symptoms such as sneezing, itching, rashes, bloating, wind, persistent cough, congested nose, a drop in blood pressure or airway narrowing, which leads to difficulty breathing.
Natural allergy treatments at the Skin and Nutrition Clinic
The Skin and Nutrition Clinic works in partnership with a premier London Pathology Laboratory to perform blood tests from which cutting-edge, scientific blood allergy profiles IgE, IgG and IgA can be provided.
These profiles are very specific and highly reliable at determining the causes of a patient’s allergies. Using single allergens as well as mixes, the allergen categories are tightly defined into food, inhalants, shellfish, finfish, antibiotics, cereal and insects and more, and their potential cross-reactions.
Once the allergies have been identified, the Skin and Nutrition Clinic then creates a customised therapy plan, which may include bespoke-made medicinal plant-based internal and external remedies, and if necessary specific nutritional supplements; an approach that has provided long-term success for many patients. *
