Rosacea Treatments & Causes
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that causes facial flushing, inflammation, redness, tiny spots and possible red lines across the face. If left untreated, it can cause a bulbous red nose. Rosacea is more common in women than men, with the average age of onset between 30 and 60. Rosacea can occur earlier in men and is often more severe.
Sufferers of rosacea may experience ocular (eye) complications, including foreign body sensation, burning, stinging, dryness, itchiness, sensitivity to light and blurred vision.
Causes of rosacea
There are different potential causes for Rosacea. Rosacea may be caused by a face mite infestation known as Demodex follicularum mite infestation, or a specific yeast known as Malassezia furfur. Skin type, skin trauma, food intake and alcohol consumption all play a role in Rosacea.
Rosacea can be aggravated by many environmental factors, including, systemic and topical medications, stress and temperature changes.
Natural rosacea treatment at the Skin and Nutrition Clinic
The Skin and Nutrition Clinic is different to most skin specialists in that it takes a completely natural and comprehensive inside-out approach to rosacea (and all other skin conditions treated), to harness the body’s own immune system and healing potential. Uniquely, the Skin and Nutrition Clinic assesses each patient’s condition on an individual basis rather than using generic methods. The clinic’s main aim is to investigate the underlying cause of your rosacea to therefore treat the source of the symptoms, rather than just treating the symptoms alone.
Your personal history and family health history are assessed, your skin condition is evaluated using the clinic’s bespoke Skin Analyser and any potential microbiological and underlying causes of rosacea are assessed, before a personalised program is created to treat the cause and the condition. Blood tests may be required to investigate potential underlying causes further and will be discussed with each patient during the consultation.
This program focuses on identifying and treating the possible microbiological changes of the skin through a bespoke systemic and topical medicinal plant-based treatment and dietary advice. Possible in-house intensive skin treatments may be advised to aid recovery of the skin if required. Any rosacea skin treatment provided will be completely bespoke-made at the in-house Skin and Nutrition Clinic Phyto-Pharmacy to your skin’s own requirements, to maximise results. *
