Seborrhoeic Dermatitis Causes & Treatment
Seborrhoeic dermatitis is a skin condition that may consist of patches of redness, dryness, flakiness and sometimes greasy scaling in regions where sebaceous glands are most active: the scalp, forehead, face, chest, armpits, under the breasts and the groin. Yellow-brown crusts may sometimes form and the rash may become itchy and the area can also feel tight and uncomfortable. Inflammation occurs due to the proliferation of specific types of yeast in sebum during seborrhoeic dermatitis. Patients may experience dandruff and patches of flaky skin on the face, however, a more extensive rash may occur.
1 in 25 people suffer from seborrhoeic dermatitis, predominantly males. Seborrhoeic dermatitis may reoccur.
Causes of seborrhoeic dermatitis
The major cause of seborrhoeic dermatitis is a yeast that lives on the skin. There is an increased prevalence of seborrhoeic dermatitis when the patient is stressed, exhausted or unwell and during chronic conditions; CFS/ME, immunodeficiencies, malnutrition, deficiencies and Parkinson’s disease, which suggests that the immune system is involved.
Natural seborrhoeic dermatitis treatment at the Skin and Nutrition Clinic
The Skin and Nutrition Clinic is different to other skin specialists in that it takes a completely natural and comprehensive inside-out approach to seborrhoeic dermatitis (and all other skin conditions treated), to harness the body’s own immune system and healing potential. Uniquely, the Skin and Nutrition Clinic assesses each patient’s condition on an individual basis rather than using generic methods. The clinic’s main aim is to investigate the underlying cause of your seborrhoeic dermatitis to therefore treat the source of the symptoms, rather than just treating the symptoms alone.
Your personal history and family health history are assessed, your skin condition is evaluated using an innovative Skin Analyser and any potential underlying causes of Seborrhoeic Dermatitis are analysed, before a personalised therapy program is created to treat the cause and the condition. Blood tests may be required to investigate potential underlying causes further and will be discussed with each patient during the consultation. This program focuses on dietary advice and a bespoke internal and external Phytomedical anti-yeast treatment. In-house intensive skin treatments may be advised to aid recovery of the skin.
Any seborrhoeic dermatitis skincare provided will be completely bespoke-made by the Skin and Nutrition Clinic Phyto-Pharmacy to your skin’s own requirements, to maximise results. *
