Many of our patients at the Claudia Louch Natural Skin Clinic suffer from sensitive skin that is prone to redness and irritation. Multiple factors can irritate our skin and not all of these are avoidable. For example stress, lack of sleep, weather and pollution all take their toll.

However, factors such as strong chemicals in many skincare ranges on the market can also be highly damaging and cause much irritation. We believe that a gentle skincare regime with products rich in natural ingredients is essential to keep sensitive skin nourished and calm.

Sensitive skin can reveal itself in different ways, as everyone?s skin reacts to irritants differently. Some of our patients come to the clinic with complaints such as redness or itching due to possible allergies, whereas others experience dryness and tightness. These patients would all have sensitive skin.

Diet must also be taken into account by those which sensitive skin. You may notice that your skin reacts to certain foods or alcoholic beverages, so avoid these where possible.

Our general advice would be to minimise sugar products; not just the obvious sweets and chocolates, but also fruits high in sugar such as grapes, melon and pineapple, plus foods high in starchy carbohydrates such as parsnips, potatoes, pasta, rice, couscous and bread, which are also high in sugars.

To care for your skin, we would recommend a simple routine with no harsh exfoliates or products with chemicals in.

The Claudia Louch Natural Skin Clinic has its own skincare range which is gentle enough for sensitive skin, with powerful formulations that make a real difference. We recommend the following routine for sensitive skin:

1. Claudia Louch Natural Skin Clinic Botanical Cleansing Lotion: this cleanser is rich in calming chamomile and aloe vera to clean the skin without drying it out.

2. Claudia Louch Natural Skin Clinic Botanical Firming Toner: this toner is essential to prime the skin to allow the moisturiser to be drawn in.

3. Claudia Louch Natural Skin Clinic Hydrating Mango Face Cream: also rich in aloe vera, this moisturiser calms and refreshes the skin without leaving it feeling greasy.

4. Claudia Louch Natural Skin Clinic Face Cream with Deep Line Complex: ideal for sensitive skin, this night cream restores moisture and calms the skin after the irritants of the day.

In the case of severely irritated skin, we would also recommend patients visit the Claudia Louch Natural Skin Clinic to pursue an allergy test to identify their specific triggers for sensitive skin. Click here to book an appointment.
